iTunes, DVD Are Now Day-and-Date Equals Bookmark and Share
May 1, 2008 — Apple has struck a deal with Hollywood to give iTunes the same release window as brick-and-mortar stores. The same day a movie hits Wal-Mart or Blockbuster on disc, it'll also appear in the iTunes store as a download.

Participating studios include Disney, Fox, Paramount, Sony, Universal, Warner, Lionsgate, Image Entertainment, and First Look Studios—so this is a seismic shift, not just an isolated sweetheart deal.

Making their debuts on iTunes this week will be American Gangster and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. You'll also find Juno, Cloverfield, I Am Legend, There Will Be Blood, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. New releases will cost $14.99, back catalog $9.99.
