August 28, 2002 — Desktop theater, anyone? Princeton Graphic Systems, Inc., has announced a new 19" LCD monitor with a high contrast ratio, wide viewing angle, and improved performance for full-motion video.

The Fountain Valley, CA-based technology company claims that the active matrix TFT SENergy 981 is the first-ever 19" LCD monitor with "sRGB color matching modes and Premium Multi-Domain Vertical Alignment® (MVA) technology" enabling a 170° viewing angle. The new monitor has a 500:1 contrast ratio for deeper blacks and more saturated colors. Integrated stereo speakers provide quality sound.

Other technical enhancements include "super fast" response time (15ms On, 10ms Off) for demanding motion graphics and video, and "distortion-free" color, rendering accurate reds, the most difficult part of the color spectrum to produce. The SENergy 981 is capable of "16.7 million true colors," with 24-bit video processing. Resolution is rated as UXGA 1600 x 1200* maximum interpolated resolution, 1280 x 1024 native resolution, with scaling resolutions from 640 x 480. The monitor has all the necessary digital and analog inputs for use with any source. With Portrait® display pivoting software, sold separately, the 981 can provide "a full range of viewing options."

A one-touch control dial on the front panel makes for easy picture adjustments, and the four-way ergonomic adjustment lets you adjust tilt, swivel, height and pivot to your liking. We feel that with the imaging accuracy and ergonomics of the SENergy 981, we have set the new world-class standard in LCD displays," said company president William Wang. Princeton Graphics was the first manufacturer to offer a digital flat panel for the commercial market.

The SENergy 981 is compatible with PC, UNIX®, Apple Macintosh®, Power Mac®, Windows®, and high-resolution third-party graphics standards. The display meets all major emission and power management standards, including EPA Energy Star and TCO’99. SENergy displays are backed by a three-year part, labor and backlight warranty. The 981 is available now at a suggested retail price of $1,249.00.
