Sherwood RD-7503 A/V Receiver:
The Sherwood does not perform any video processing, either upconversion (including deinterlacing if needed) to higher resolutions or cross-converting from an analog video input to an HDMI output. Its video inputs are limited to switching, passthrough, and tapping the audio carried on HDMI. For that reason, the analog tests that appear in most of our Video Test Bench results, which show cross-conversion from a component input to an HDMI output, are irrelevant here. Nor are any digital tests that evaluate HDMI-to-HDMI video processing (deinterlacing and/or scaling) relevant. The results in the chart indicate the Sherwood’s pristine video switching and passthrough of 1080p source material over HDMI.—TJN
